Problem
People increasingly rely on multiple mobile applications to help them schedule and attend meetings, share documents, and stay in touch with family and friends.
Outcome
An app which is an integration of online communications and video meetings that allows users to have a group video call, share and record their mobile app screens, set send time for message delivery, and track important notifications easily so that they have real-time communication services.
Carry out an interview
I used user interviews as a qualitative research approach which brought me lots of useful data. It helped me precisely determine my user persona and better define the target group problems.
Proto persona
The proto persona is young adults, mainly aged between 20–30 who recently started working or are in search of a job.

I conducted a semi-structured informal interview with users based on my target group (proto persona). The interview questions were about how to communicate using their smartphone, what are apps they are using for communication, what type of messages they send, methods of interaction, who they communicate with, what are their pros and cons, how they feel and think about them and so on.
I did the interviews remotely via Google Meet due to the pandemic Coronavirus disease. Below is the user interview link.
Interpreting the Interview Data
Who exactly are the intended users?
The course of action that the user will take
What the users need on their journey
What it takes to meet the needs of the users
Solutions prioritization
In the ideation session, I reached piles of ideas and solutions that I was hesitant about which ones to pick. To reach a decision of which ones to choose for the first MVP or even understand which are applicable according to time and budget and design challenges, the Now Wow How Matrix came to my help and apply the idea criteria that were right for my design challenges.
This matrix was useful in finding solutions that were innovative and easy to implement.
The solutions that were chosen in the end
First need
Needs to find important messages and info easily
Solutions
They can use @username to mention the user in a message and a notification will be sent to the user
They can add a badge to the message which puts that message in the urgent box
The app can have two parts notifications. One for the system and one for important messages
Second need
Needs to do group calls with others and present them with something
Solutions
We can add a share screen icon in both voice room and video call so the user can present the file
Finger touch and movement can be used for detecting where the user is indicating to show others
We can let the user record the presentation
We can let the record be shared with others
Third need
Need to send a message at a scheduled time
Solutions
We can let them set the sending time
We can save a specific sending time for a specific person and set it on forever
If the user wants to send the message on a specific date, we can add a calendar
Put things where they belong

A user-focused flow to reach the goal
First scenario
During a group call, the user wants to share her screen and present others with something.
View more scenarios
Second scenario
The user wants to check the important messages at once because he can't check all the groups and chats individually due to a lack of time.
Third scenario
The user wants to set a time for sending a message as the receiver lives in a place with a hugely different time zone.
UI Requirements
Final decisions based on user need analysis
After ideation, design solutions based on the specified task flow were created.

The usability test results are as follows
Participants were asked to complete 3 task scenarios that were created based on 3 task flows. then the findings were gathered. All participants completed all of the tasks successfully, despite a few non-blocking errors.
The Net Promoter Score was 50%.

Verifying the effectiveness of the solution
5 representative users participated in a moderated qualitative usability test to identify problems. To measure the effectiveness of the design and the validation of the solution, the below metrics (KPIs) were measured.
Task success rate
Number of errors
Net promoter score (NPS)
Takeaway
By designing this app I help users can quickly respond to messages, share photos, and even participate in group conversations with multiple people. Additionally, users can schedule when they want their messages to be delivered, allowing them to stay connected with their loved ones even when their schedules don't allow for face-to-face interaction.
